Children’s Mini Regatta
Ahoy mateys! For one magical day young and old alike gather together at Maffeo Sutton Park to enjoy one of Nanaimo’s Premiere events - the Silly Boat Regatta where they’ll be engaged and entertained by performances, learning booths and hands-on arts activities devised to delight, challenge and educate.
One of the main attractions is the children’s Mini Regatta sponsored by Woodgrove Centre. Participation in this special event is FREE! It’s jam-packed with mini wooden boat building, crafts, games, dress-up and much more. The Children’s Mini Regatta embodies the buoyant spirit and endless curiosity of children.
Make your way down to Woodgrove Centre’s large tent in the Inner Lagoon Area by 11 AM and sign your child/children up to receive a mini boat kit . Watch (and help) as they create their pirate ships, participate in pirate crafts & games and then cheer them on during the Pirate Parade!
By participating in this event the following rules must be adhered to:
- A waiver will need to be completed/signed prior to participation
- Only one boat kit/bag permitted per Child
- Boats will be “raced” by hand (no physical entrance into the lagoon by child/adult).
- Proper footwear will be worn at all times.
- Play SAFE, play FAIR, and have FUN during arts/crafts, games & boat building!
