The Nanaimo Child Development Centre (NCDC) is a community-based non-profit organization that has been an integral part of Central Vancouver island since 1967. NCDC mandate is to provide individualized therapy services for children, from birth to age 19, and their families to promote optimum child development. We recognize that each child has diverse needs that must be addressed if they are to reach their full potential. Staff members are committed to continually improving and enhancing our programs to meet the needs of the child. Throughout the year, we have well over 300 volunteers who assist at the Centre and at fundraising and awareness events. The NCDC provides support, assessment and therapy treatment to nearly 1800 children and families annually residing in Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Lantzville, Nanoose, Protection Island and Gabriola Island. The NCDC also provides assessment services to children in Port Alberni, Ucluelet, Parksville, Qualicum and Duncan (mid to North Island). Presently there are Over 345 children on our waitlist, waiting an average of 10 months for some services (particularly speech therapy & occupational therapy).
